Joke Janssen - Wijts

Amsterdam 1946.

Since 1993 attended sculpture lessons from sculptress Stephanie Rhode.

Also participated in several workshops and courses on the subject of model drawing and clay modelling, painting with oils, acrylics and water colours, bronze foundry and art history.

Joke's work is both figurative and abstract. The human body plays an important role in her figures made of bronze and clay. When sculpting in stone Joke allows herself to be lead more and more by organic forms and the stone she is working on.

Her paintings are colourful and portray reality in a special, often abstract way.

Since a number of years Joke has a passion for photography, mainly during holidays in the snow and on the water. Here abstract forms and 3-dimensional aspects can be recognized, sometimes almost as if they can be grasped.
